Candle Care
If you’re looking to get the best out of your handmade candles then follow these candle care tips to get long-lasting fragrance and an even, clean burn:
First burn
If you want to he first time you burn your candle is important! Please ensure you burn your candle for a minimum of 2.5 hours the first time you burn it. This will create an even burn all the way down and prevent any dips or ‘tunnelling’ through the wax.
Trim the wick
Your candle is made with a wooden wick that crackles lightly as it burns. The wick should be kept short at 3-5mm for optimal burn, so ensure you trim your wick regularly. This can be done using a pair of wick trimmers or simply by pinching the wick with your fingers to break off the burnt top of the wick before lighting it. You may want to turn your candle upside down to do this so that you don’t end up with black debris in the melt-pool of your candle. Trimming the wick will not only prolong the life of your candle, but ensures you will get a nice clean burn every time you use it.
Keep it clean
Keep your candle as clean as possible. Don’t leave bits of burnt wick or half-burnt matches in there. Use the bamboo lid to cover your candle between burns so that it doesn’t get dusty.
Be safe!
Do not burn your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time. Keep it away from children, pets and draughts. Never leave it unattended and always light your candle on a clear, flat surface.
Enjoy!
If you follow these simple candle care tips your candles will burn evenly, cleanly and at a steady pace. This means they’ll last longer and you’ll enjoy great long-lasting fragrance.
